Faroe Islands export more than 30 different fish species and the most common species are described on this page. In the Exporter Directory, exporters are listed by species.

In the Stats you will find an overview of fish species that are fished and exported by the Faroe Islands. In addition to the fish species mentioned, the Faroese also fish other species and shelfish such as crabs, sea urchins and horse mussels.

In recent years, Faroese companies have cultivated seaweed in fjords in the Faroe Islands. The stable water temperatures in the sea around the Faroe Islands provide some of the best conditions for seaweed farming in all of Europe. The farming of seaweed in have shown good results, and seaweed is being cultivated on a commercial scale and exported.
